24 Hour per Day Energy Generation

Quantum Dot Solar Cells can absorb solar energy from the visible spectrum to the invisible infrared and ultraviolet bands even at night, thus allowing for 24 hour per day energy production. Mixing different size quantum dots of different wavelength absorbing abilities can produce the optimal blend for a particular latitude or weather condition. Silicon-type solar cells are currently tested with a very bright artificial light meant to approximate sunlight at a peak time of day (midday) to compare the absorption by and conversion efficiencies of solar panels and cells. These tests do not rate real world 24-hour conditions, inclement weather or night conditions, To rate the efficiency of quantum dot solar cells, and give better comparisons,  testing facilities must convert to test for actual conditions and a 24-hour time period, not just the brightest part of the day.
